Kailash Mansarovar Yatra By Road (Bus)

thumbnail thumbnail thumbnail thumbnail

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra By Bus is one of the most traditional ways to reach Mount Kailash and the holy Mansarovar Lake. This route is preferred by devotees who want an immersive journey through the Himalayas.

The bus route covers different terrains, from plains to steep mountain roads. Depending on the schedule, the journey usually takes 13 to 14 days. Pilgrims travel through forests, high passes and river valleys before reaching Tibet. Important points on the way include altitudes of 3,000 to 5,000 metres, with Lake Mansarovar itself located at around 4,590 metres and Mount Kailash rising to 6,638 metres. These heights require proper rest and acclimatization, which are planned into the bus itinerary.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra By Bus 2026  is often connected to two main routes traditionally used by pilgrims. The Lipulekh Pass route in Uttarakhand is known for its long and challenging trek of nearly 200 km, passing through Gunji, Kalapani, and Nabhidhang before entering Tibet.

This path is more demanding and suitable for physically fit pilgrims. The second option is the Nathu La Pass route from Sikkim, which is easier because it involves minimal trekking and more bus travel. This route is usually preferred by senior citizens but has limited batches due to weather and border rules.

During the journey, pilgrims perform rituals and parikrama. The Kailash parikrama is about 52 km and usually completed in three days, while the Mansarovar parikrama covers around 90 km.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra By Bus is ideal for those who want a slow but a deep experience  allowing them to connect with nature, the Himalayas and the energy of Mount Kailash.
